There is an unobstructed view from the apartment I am considering, but there is a vacant lot directly in front of that side of the building. Is that reason for concern? It could be. Developers in Manhattan are allergic to open spaces, particularly vacant lots. A vacant lot can quickly become a building site and a view that was wonderful can disappear. A buyer confronted with a vacant lot, parking area or series of low rise buildings, directly in the path of the view, should do all the investigating possible to make sure the view stays exactly as it is on the date of closing.
