I just got the purchase application package and it's twenty pages long. Should my broker be helping me with organizing the required documents?Yes. One of your broker’s main functions is to assist with the “Board Package”. These documents are usually standard in most buildings and your broker should be quite familiar with the documents and what’s expected. Each building is a little different and a little more or less difficult, so the broker is the “go to” person for putting the package together. When there is only a seller’s broker, you may find yourself more on your own. Nevertheless, it’s in the best interest of the seller’s broker to get the application package right. If your broker or the seller’s broker in not cooperating or has “become lost” in the Board package process, let that fact be known to your attorney as soon as possible. Sometimes, bringing in a higher authority, like the broker’s sales manager, may be required to get the assistance that should be provided.
